Paul Lambert, director of Wheatley Institute's Religion Initiative, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the One America Movement, a national organization dedicated to fighting toxic polarization in American politics.
In a statement regarding his new role, Lambert connected his experience promoting religious pluralism at Wheatley Institute with One America's aims: "I see religious pluralism as a foundational component of any flourishing society and a necessary ingredient of combatting the troubling division we see among Americans today. The One America Movement approach of harnessing the values and good that faith brings in helping us to engage difference with respect and confidence, honor agency, and build on human dignity is what we need to achieve unity and flourishing for all."
Wheatley Institute has previously worked alongside the One America Movement promoting the National Governors Association's "Disagree Better" initiative, which also promotes civility and constructive engagement across political and cultural divides.
