Wheatley Institute and the BYU College of Life Sciences welcomed Yale Professor Dr. Samuel Wilkinson to BYU campus on Oct 17, 2024 as he shared an insightful lecture on the purpose of our existence.
Generations have been taught that evolution implies there is no overarching purpose to our existence, that life has no fundamental meaning, with some scientists going further to suggest that evolution is intrinsically atheistic and antithetical to the concept of God.
But is this true?
Drawing from emerging principles in the fields of evolutionary biology to psychology—Yale Professor Samuel Wilkinson provided a framework of evolution that implied not only that there is an overarching purpose to our existence, but what that purpose is.
Dr. Samuel Wilkinson is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and is the Associate Director of the Yale Depression Research Program.
