Samuel Wilkinson

Dr. Samuel Wilkinson is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and is the Associate Director of the Yale Depression Research Program. He graduated from medical school at John Hopkins University and completed his psychiatric residency training at Yale University. His research at Yale is centered on improving the quality of care for psychiatric patients and their community. He also studies the role of organized religion in society. His recent book, Purpose: What Evolution and Human Nature Imply about the Meaning of our Existence, explores questions of purpose and meaning in human existence through various scientific disciplines, from evolutionary biology to psychology,  ultimately arguing not only that there is evidence of God but also that human deep and abiding relationships are the most meaningful aspect of human existence and a natural function of evolution.
