Daycy De Gamez studies Sociology and History at BYU. A landmark in her decision to study sociology was the Latino Civil Rights seminar at BYU, where she had the opportunity not afforded her during her K-12 education to learn about the Latinos and Latinas that made United States history. She has also assisted in teaching a course at the Utah State Prison on the French Revolution. She is currently the student lead for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the BYU Sorensen Center for Moral and Ethical Leadership, helping underrepresented and minoritized students realize their leadership potential. She wants to become an independent DEI consultant for higher education institutions. She enjoys Latin dancing, which is how she met her husband, gathering for meals with friends, and visiting her family in Chihuahua, Mexico.
