After 12 years of service, founding director Richard Williams, will be returning to full-time teaching and research in Counseling, Psychology and Special Education in the David O. McKay School of Education.

Wheatley Senior Fellow Dan Robinson passed away on September 17, 2018 from heart failure. The following are heartfelt sentiments from current Wheatley Staff about Robinson's impact on them personally and professionally.

We are saddened to announce the passing of Brigadier General Amos A. “Joe” Jordan, Jr. on June 7, 2018, at the age of 96. General Jordan was a pillar of expertise and leadership for the Wheatley Institute in its early years. His extensive service in the government, military and academic world and his influence and recommendations allowed the Institution to feature highly sought after speakers at BYU. From his youth as a boxing champion to his young adult years at West Point to his outstanding accomplishments as an adult, he leaves behind a legacy of personal integrity and character.

Mashable explores the modern problem that parents face as they raise children in a digital world in June 2022 article. They use research from the Wheatley Institute report called "Teaching by Example" to explore how parenting styles impact the realtionship that kids have with the technology in their home.

Washington Examiner journalist Heather Hamilton cited Wheatley Institute research in a recent article. The article explores the mental health of adolescents in conjunction with the social media use of their parents. Hamilton uses research from the report "Teaching by Example" which was authored by Sarah Coyne, Emily Weinstein, Spencer James, Megan Gale, and Megan Van Alfen and published by the Wheatley Institute in June of 2022.

Jenet Jacob Erickson, an Associate Professor of Religious Education at Brigham Young University and Wheatley Institute Fellow, shared her thoughts on Supreme Court draft leak regarding Roe v. Wade. The draft penned by Justice Samuel Alito seeks to overturn the Roe v. Wade case of 1973 that granted the right to receive an abortion.
