The Wheatley Institute acknowledges with sadness the passing of Kate Holbrook and we express our condolences to her family and friends who feel her loss keenly. Kate’s inspiring capacity to convey the experiences and values of Latter-day Saint women was highlighted in a lecture she gave at the 2017 conference “My Grace is Sufficient: Latter-day Reflections”. The conference was co-sponsored by the Wheatley Institute, Religious Education, and the Religious Studies Center at Brigham Young University.

After COVID-19 delays, the educators involved in the 2019 Civic Education Program were able to complete their experience with the Wheatley Institute.

Distinguished Wheatley Fellow Shima Baughman wrote an article for the Deseret News about returning to teach at BYU after 10 years at the University of Utah.

Past Wheatley Scholar Gabriela Coca wrote an article for the Institute of Family Studies about the negative effects of pornography on youth.

Wheatley Institute Fellow Justin Dyer co-authored an article for Deseret News with findings from a recent study on toxic perfectionism in Latter-Day Saint youth. He addresses the common attitude that being highly religious leads to dangerous levels of perfectionism, and explains how research shows that religion is the solution, rather than the cause, of these problems.
