Distinguished Lecture in International Affairs

The Wheatley Institution is pleased to announce a Distinguished Lecture in International Affairs. This lecture will be given by Seyyed Hossein Nasr in connection with the Museum of Art's current exhibit of Islamic art, "Beauty and Belief: Crossing Bridges with the Arts of Islamic Culture."
Nasr is a University Professor of Islamic studies at George Washington University. He is a Muslim-Persian philosopher and renowned scholar of comparative religion. Nasr was born to a physician of the Persian royal family; his father was one of the founders of modern education in Iran. Nasr was sent to the United States for education at thirteen, ultimately receiving a B.S. and M.S. from MIT and a PhD from Harvard. His doctoral dissertation was published by Harvard University Press as An Introduction to Islamic Cosmological Doctrines. He has taught at Harvard, Tehran, Sharif and Temple Universities; and at University of Edinburgh.
